How To Make DIY Concrete River Rocks
Back in 2021 I had a conundrum...
the mulch in my yard was escaping! I needed a quick and easy fix, and I found just the solution! Today I will be showing you how to make faux rocks that look good around your property AND last forever! Now when I first did this, everyone's question was why I didn't just go pick up some river rock? Well, thats a simple answer, I don't live near any rivers so that was out of the question for me. Plus, buying them would cost a fortune for the amount that I needed. So here is what I used instead:

Alright, so first things first:
Cut the drop cloth into large squares, and lay it out flat on a counter, spraying the cloth with PAM cooking spray. Make sure to coat the entire surface. Then sprinkle salt rock as much or as little as your heart desires. This is to add texture to your stones instead of leaving them extremely smooth. However it's your rocks, it's entirely up to you, but I recommend only using a small amount for the best results!

Once you're done with that,
pour a bag of fast setting concrete mix into your mixing tray and activate it, making it more liquid-y than you would if you were using it for a slab. Now put on your gloves and scoop some up and place it in the middle of your drop cloth. Make sure to add a good amount of concrete so that it has some bulk to it. (Of course this depends on how big you want your rocks to be. I made mine pretty small, about the size of stepping stones).

Now that that's finished
grab all 4 corners of your cloth and pull them up to the middle and twist it closed, making sure to get as little air trapped as possible. Place it on the counter with the twist on the bottom, this way the pretty side is up while it dries. Repeat this however many times you need.

Once dry, untwist it and peel off the plastic and you should be left with a perfect garden stones!

These "stones" are perfect as decorative elements to keep mulch and other fillers in your own garden or outdoor space. And all it took was just a little bit of work. Super simple! Over time moss will grow over them, turning your once basic landscaping into a beautiful fairytale garden. (Like pictured below).
